Edward Clements Yellowley Papers, . 1842-1864

Edward Clements Yellowley (d. 1885) of Pitt County, N.C., was a Confederate officer of the 8th Regiment North Carolina State Troops and the 68th North Carolina Infantry Regiment, serving in the coastal area of North Carolina. The collection includes papers of Yellowley, chiefly antebellum correspondence concerning the collection of monies owed him, and letters to his wife and military correspondence concerning troop movements, deserters, and other military matters. Also included is a letter, 1861, from Houston, Tex., about the social and political climate in Texas.
